The Ways Football Has Incorporated Technology On The Field

Over the last decade, professional football has found a number of different ways to incorporate technology on the field. Many of these have been met with both praise and criticism from fans, commentators or players. No matter how you look at the matter, technology has helped to transform the game.

The most obvious use of technology on the football field is in the challenge system. In the past, officiating was left to the naked eye and the judgment of the officials. With the introduction of the challenge system, this element of human error has been largely removed from the game. Teams can challenge close calls, and referees view game film to review their calls. Because of how integrated the TV crews are to the rest of the staff in the game, referees can immediately view the footage from multiple angles and speed it up or slow it down to gain a better perspective.

Technology has also been implemented into the game in other ways. Certain players on the field are given designated helmets. These helmets have radio equipment built in to allow communication with coaches on the sidelines. Through the use of these helmets, coaches are able to relay more precise instructions than if they were confined to hand signals.

Of course, there are other ways that technology has impacted the game of football. These are just a couple. As time goes on and technology evolves, it will without a doubt have an even stronger impact on the game.
